BIG is the largest manufacturer of ice cream brand products in Belgium. The company produces three renowned, traditional ice cream brands: IJsboerke, Mio and Artic.

BIG can count on more than 110 years of experience in manufacturing high-quality ice cream. Since 1997, the company has been entirely owned by Nationale Portefeuillemaatschappij/la Compagnie Nationale à Portefeuille, which guarantees sustainable business.

BIG at home and abroad

BIG presents IJsboerke as its Benelux brand and Mio as its international brand. IJsboerke responds to the generous lifestyle of the home market by producing ice cream that contains more cream. Mio ice cream has a lower fat percentage and has been adjusted to a more international taste pallet.

Our products are made with traditional workmanship and natural, high-quality ingredients, such as daily fresh cream, all according to the strictest quality standards.

Door-to-door

In addition to traditional sales by distributive trade (supermarkets, wholesalers, catering industry, etc.), we also sell our ice cream directly to Belgian consumers. Our orange vans have been around for many years in this country, selling delicious ice cream to more than 200,000 families.

We also run a number of impulse outlets at large shopping malls in places such as Wijnegem, Sint-Niklaas, Tongeren and Liège.

BIG business

BIG has its production site in Tielen (Belgium) and seven depots all over the country to supply our home vending vans.

We offer a wide range of ice cream products: scoop ice cream, cones, cups and sticks, but also ice cream cakes and ice cream desserts. For the catering industry and foodservice, we provide ice cream in caddies of 2.5 litres and 5 litres.

In 2011, BIG achieved a turnover of 69.5 million euros. BIG employs about 340 people.
